Lektra (Formerly "Ava Energy") secures second patent for microgrids powering distributed compute.
Lektra (Formerly Ava Energy) has secured its second patent, United States Patent Application No. 18/654,413, for using MicroGrids to power GPUs in data centers. This patent builds on their first, which focused on converting distributed energy into compute power through its Energy Management System (EMS).
According to Lektra, selling compute power is more lucrative, with electricity in New York priced at $0.02 per kWh, while compute power can sell up to $32 depending on a server configuration.
Lektra plans to collaborate with microgrid operators, using their energy to power their GPU-based HomeEdge and BusinessEdge systems. The company is also building a distributed cloud infrastructure to meet the rising demand for AI and GPU processing.
